    Hello,

I often run managed WordPress websites where Editors have access to many WordPress features, but not manage_options. This means that Editors do not have access to set up Analytics themselves. It would be nice if there were a filter in place or a custom capability to allow Administrators to set this upon Editors, who would then give them access to set up their own Analytics.

Unfortunately, as of right now, I am unable to use this plugin because of this restriction.

Thanks for reaching out. While we do have an open feature request that we’re working on in order to share Site Kit dashboards (https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/6) can you confirm that you’re looking to provide full access for editor roles – so they can configure the plugin?

If so I’m happy to open a GitHub issue or discuss this with the team although I believe this is out of scope from previous conversations, with the ability to configure the plugin restricted to administrators.

    Let me know anyway.

    Hello,

Correct, I’m looking to have the WordPress Editor Role ( or any role with X capability if set up properly ) to get access to the Site Kit dashboard to set up their own Google Analytics. What often happens is that I end up building a website for a client and would rather them be in charge of their own analytics or bring somebody else on to handle analytics who may not necessarily have administrative capabilities.

With a custom capability, the site developers could give access to the Site Kit dashboard to whomever they need without giving them access to manage_options which is one of the highest privileges WordPress has.

Thanks for the update. I’ve created a GitHub issue for you now in relation to this. The team will review this GitHub feature request before deciding whether this is something that aligns with the plugins roadmap, feel free to subscribe to that issue for further updates.

As you’re building websites for clients one possible alternative is for you to request your clients grant you access to their preferred Google Analytics accounts – prior to you setting up Site Kit for them. When setting up Analytics providing you use that same account and property both you and your clients will be able to view the Analytics dashboards before dashboard sharing is added, and before your GitHub issue is reviewed.

I’ll close this support topic given we have added your feature request. Feel free to let me know if you have any further queries on this.
