• Can you please add a feature to the firewall rules where:

    If a human’s post views exceed: _____ Then: _____

Ideally (for me at least anyway), I would redirect them (to a page I created telling them to come back tomorrow), but the standard block or throttle options would work well enough also.

Thank you for any consideration you can give towards something like this. It would be a nice way to restrict leechers on a site with a lot of posts (and leechers stealing those posts!)

  • Hi

One question for you. Is there anything in the firewall rules that doesn’t address that specifically? I’m trying to get a better understanding so I can pass the request to the dev team.

The problem with applying your standard firewall rules is your rules currently only allow restrictions based on ‘per minute’- which is great for automated attacks but does nothing about someone spending hours copy/pasting/stealing hundreds/thousands of posts.

I use clicky to monitor my site and the average actions per visit is usually from 9-10, average time on site from 6-7 mins. Then I see the occasional human with 600+ actions on my site for 5 hours. Sure enough, a day or two later a bunch of my posts start popping up elsewhere.

If I could set something like 100 actions within 24 hours gives a 24 hour block, that gives me time to look deeper into the problem (whether it’s an innocent user just harmlessly browsing for a long time, or somebody with other intent) and decide the appropriate action to take (permanent block, throttle connection, no action taken, etc).
