    Hi dear Developers,

Is is possible to add the feature to lock down the additional attempts for registration, forgot password and search attempts for both woocommerce and wordpress?

In fact recently I had a problem with I don’t know whether it was a user or robot that made a lot of fake searches in woocommerce and also registration and forgot password.

Although I could manage it, but from this point I reached to this conclusion that it would be very good if there were such a feature in the plugin to restrict additional search attemps.

    specially for search bar.
I couldn’t believe that a user or robot can attack with fake searches to consume server resources

I also think a lockdown feature is needed for comment forms. Because for example a user can post a lot of fake comments in under 5 minutes manually. But with a lockdown feature he or she or the robot can be restricted easily.

I also tested a dozen of third party plugins, but none of them were good.

    So this was my experience.

I really appreciate if you take this into account for future updates.

    Thank you so much.

    Hi @longman2020,

Thanks for your detailed suggestions. We have dedicated channels where requests received like this can be discussed and considered for future inclusion in the product. I have forwarded this on, although cannot commit to any timescales or certainty they will be developed at this stage.

Currently, features like our 2FA and reCAPTCHA apply only to default WordPress login pages, so products like WooCommerce that also allow registration/logins are on our radar.

In effect, Wordfence can help you with search/page load frequency, dangerous URLs and suspicious content in posts/comments. In particular, Wordfence > All Options > Rate Limiting. However, I take on board that the actual frequency of GET/POST requests from the search and comments forms are the focus of what you’d like to see rather than requests made to the site in general.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter

From my experience, I think rate limit is necessary for all wordpress/woocommerce fields.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi @longman2020,

I passed the information along and the development team think that expanding the Rate Limiting feature to include more focused options around commenting and searches would be a positive addition. Again, I cannot comment on timescales for inclusion in the product as the development roadmap may shift over time, but thank-you for your ideas and feedback.

    Peter.
