    Hey,
I disabled comments with your plugin on several WP-sites.

Now that I noticed that the websites were still sending requests to Gravatar, I wanted to deactivate this. This is particularly important across the EU, due to data protection (GDPR).

This should be possible in default-wordpress via settings / discussions; but this setting seems to be removed by your plugin.

I think, your “Disable Comments” should either deactivate Gravatar by default, or have at least a setting to do so.

    Hi @nyks-barton ,

    Hope you’re doing good today!
Thanks for reporting this to us. Since Disable Comments plugin disables all the comment functionality on the website, Gravatar requests(in the comment section) should be blocked by default aswell.

I will definitely discuss this with our dev team and make it available in a future version.

Feel free to share your awesome feedback with us.
This will help us to improve our plugin.

    Cheers!

I used the browser-plugin “Ghostery” (e.g. from the chrome store); after install, choose to block nothing. You get a small dot, which shows you all “trackers” on a website.

On a fresh wordpress-install it shows the gravatar-tracker. With your “Disable Comments” installed, gravatar is still on the WP-site.
When you deactivate the avatar-feature in WP/settings/discussions, you get rid of the gravatar tracker.

At the moment, I have to deactivate “Disable Comments”, change this setting, and reactivate “Disable Comments” again.
So … yes, i thing, this should be default after installing your plugin.

    Hi there,

We’ve just pushed a new update(v2.3.1) where we’ve brought the option to Disable Gravatar in Disable Comments settings page: https://d.pr/i/6Zz775

You might face the settings/toggle turned off on Disable Comments page. Simply turn on this option to Disable Gravatar on your website: https://d.pr/i/O7KghX

    Thank you!
