Feature Request: Option to subscribe to question on comment?

wpFforo user mentioning system works fine. You just need to use the @nickname like in other forums. They can use it w/o any problem.

We only created an option to check the subscription checkbox by default for topic creators, because it’ll not make problems for forum admins. If somebody creates a topic he/she would also expect replies so it’s normal to be subscribed even automatically. But in case of replies/comments it may bring lots of GDPR complaints according to Article 22. it says all such options should be opt-out by default.

As an addition, commenters have a simple way to subscribe. They just need to click on the “Subscribe for new replies” button on top of all questions.

So that’s a no to a checkbox? And I believe this is an exempt case as every site I use still notifys me on responses to comments. Even this site as well as your plugin site have that feature.

Do you mean the mentioning feature? If so, yes, it works without subscription in wpForo.

I mean your discussion boards for the plugins on your site have a notify of replies checkbox still.

I’m sorry but I can’t follow you, please be more informative and explain the problem fully. I have never said there should not be checkbox, I was talking abut “enabled/checked checkbox by default ” (opt-in status). And I don’t understand what forum layout you mean. Also I don’t see what you’re trying to reach at all. Please be clearer when you ask a question.

For displaying checkbox you can change the rich editor type in Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Topics & Posts tab:

So it’s a bug then that it only shows on the rich text editor and not normal one

This is not a bug, it’s by design. The simple editor doesn’t have subscription checkbox. We may add an option to enable it in future, but this is not under considerations yet.
