Feature Request: Provide General Way to Accept Cookies
-
This plugin is already very good, but it lacks one of most requested functionalities for a cookie plugin: an easy way to accept cookies without allowing users to easily uncheck the other cookies at the same time (if configured).
I think there should be a new way how the cookie banner is displayed. Here is what I propose:
1) show the introduction text of the cookie banner like it is now (including the link)
2) show a BIG “accept all cookies” button (text should be configurable, should be clicked by most users)
3) show a SMALL “configure cookies” link (which people should not actually click) — which is then leading to the individual toggles for the cookiesReasons for doing this: Most users on the internet do not have time and hate those cookie banners. They are trained to just click “OK – go ahead”. This is why the Cookie Banner plugin needs this functionality also.
For legal reasons in most EU countries, cookies toggles ARE NOT ALLOWED to be turned on by default. This means the opt in for non essential cookies should be performed explicitly by the user.
By clicking on the big “accept all cookies” link mentioned in point 2) the cookie plugin will TURN ON all cookies on the hidden “configure cookies” page and thus providing an easy and compliant option to use the plugin.
I this this is a VERY, VERY important functionality for the plugin. The Cookie toggles like implemented now will yet alone promote opt outs too much. What we want is opt ins.
