I very much like the Publicize feature of Jetpack, but there is a significant problem: After my post gets auto-pushed to my Facebook page, I always have to edit the post on Facebook to tidy it up, because I don’t want the entirety of my WordPress post to be there on Facebook. The problem is worse on Twitter side of things, as you cannot edit posted Tweets and I would like to add hastags and the like.

So I think it would be a good idea of to have a preview/edit ability for the things Publicize actually posts to social media sites alongside the normal post creation, similar to how the social media snippet editor works right now. For those people who don’t want this capability and don’t want their post creation page to grow even larger than it already is, it might be a good idea to make a toggle to show/display the Publicize preview/editor.

When you say that you need to “edit the post” afterwards – are you setting the Custom Message as shown here?

Using the Title, Custom Message, and Excerpt, you can customize the way any posts get shared to Facebook. If you don’t change the default custom message, it will post a longer excerpt of your post content. Twitter will simply post what is in the Custom Message.

Also, we do have an open issue on GitHub that is requesting further customization to Publicize messaging – feel free to follow along the progress there:

Marking as resolved as it’s working as expected currently.
