FEATURE REQUEST: Re-design the Recently Modified Files feature in the Wordfence weekly report.

I love Wordfence and that’s the only reason I’m requesting this feature request, this is not a criticism of the current design or WordPress more generally. I want to help it be better.

The Recently Modified Files feature of the weekly report is basically valueless because:
    – It doesn’t show modification to files I care about e.g. wp-config.php (because they are lost in the noise)
    – It does show modifications to files I am expecting e.g. plugin updates.

This feature request is to re-design this feature so that it ONLY shows files that have been modified since the last report that:
    – Are selectable by the user.
    – Are not part of a recent update.
    – Have been added outside of any recent update.

I completely appreciate that this is hard to do, having to store not only a database of files hashes, but also those of plugin and core updates, and the logic to analyse the differences. And the report itself. And the UI to allow a user to add their own!

I should be able to use the Recently Modified Files list as a ‘investigation to-do list’ whereas now I just have to largely ignore it (almost zero value).

    David.

Hi @tictag, we’re pleased to hear you’re enjoying Wordfence and always love to hear a well-thought out feature that might benefit you and the wider community.

As you may have seen elsewhere on the forum, we can’t commit in most cases to a suggested feature being included, or if it is, when it may be released. However, I’ve passed this to the QA and development teams for further discussion. They’ll look into your suggestion from here and consider its feasibility.

    All the best,
    Peter.
