• Would you consider adding the option “link=none” to the singlepic shortcode?

When you post a picture in original size, there’s not much use in having people click an image just to have it lightboxed the same size they just saw it in the blogpost anyway. Some pictures are for decoration only and not supposed to be clicked, just to be there and look nice in the size I chose.

Right now, the link by default creates a mouseover cursor that indicates a bigger picture, while in many cases there just isn’t one.

It’d be great if I could turn the link/lightbox on and off just like that.
In case I got something wrong here or missed a point, I appreciate your help!

    Thanks for your time!

  • You do have some valid points.

However, some people might want to have it clickable. For example, if your site is only 1000px wide, but your image is twice that sice, it could be handy.

I’ll explore what we could do (maybe an option on the shortcode or in the settings).

For now, you can use a custom template. I’ve made one you’re free to use.
    Download: https://bitbucket.org/niknetniko/nextcellent/downloads/singlepic-nolink.php

To use it, just put it in a folder called ‘ngg-styles’ inside wp-content. you might have to make the folder.

Then, add template=”nolink” to the shortcode. This template just shows the image, no links at all.

niknetniko, you rock! :))) Thank you so much for this!

Of course it CAN be handy, but it can be comfy as well to be able to turn links off, in case it’s just symbolic pictures you’re using to break up a long text.

If you’re really looking into this further, an option in the shortcode might be better; with an option in the settings you’d have it generalized, I guess? Then you’d have to add every link you still want manually? That’d be a real pain.

I’m having shi..ploads of other issues right now, mostly CSS, but this is a biiig piece in the puzzle! <3
(I’m currently changing my blog entries from old Gallery2 links to NGG galleries and singlepics – no big fun when you start somewhere in 2006, I’m telling you.)

So thanks for the unexpected christmas present! And big thanks for keeping up this plugin – without you guys, loads of people would’ve been effin screwed!

Ahem… So sorry, I only tried it AFTER being so excited and replying to you. ?? Would you look into the code again? It doesn’t seem to work.

Are you sure about the folder? Directly into wp-content? Not somewhere into Plugins – Nextcellent… – ??

Oh, I see I made an error: it should be:

    ngg_styles (with underscore, not ngg-styles)

Please let me know if it works now.

Also, good luck with your site!

Solved – the folder just wasn’t right. I had to put it in themes/mytheme/nggallery. Now it works! Thanks again.

    Glad to hear it.

I would still suggest you try placing it in wp-content/ngg_styles/ (with underscore!). That way it’s totally safe.

In mytheme/nggallery/, the file will be deleted if you update your theme.

Alright, thanks for the hint! ??
