• Hello, I just have a suggestion of a possible feature that might be useful. So I have the Redirection plugin installed on my website and I was going through some 404 errors in my logs and I noticed some sketchy attempts at accessing files that don’t exist like /config/default.json or /backup.sql.gz

Being a cheeky person, I am using the Redirection plugin to send 404 errors like that to a /nope/ page on my site. For example, you can’t view https://just1voice.com/settings.py because it’ll just redirect you to https://just1voice.com/nope/

Similar to the brute force protection settings that allows me to check a box to immediately lock out invalid usernames, would it be possible for me to create a rule that immediately and temporarily blocks anyone who visits that /nope/ page? I thought maybe an additional text field in the “Custom Pattern” of the “Create a Blocking Rule” could be added and then additionally a dropdown to define what kind of block (permanent or temporary).

    Thanks!

    Hi?@tessawatkinsllc,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We do have the option to block IP addresses that access specific URLs under Wordfence> All Options> Firewall Options> Advanced Firewall Options. You will see the option “Immediately block IPs that access these URLs”.

For more information, please see the advanced options section on the article below:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/options/#advanced-options

    I hope this is helpful.

    Thanks ,

    Janet

Perfect! I would like the ability to make it temp vs permanent, but this will do for my purposes. Thanks!

I feel you on this one ?? . People who access certain URL on one’s website should be permanently blocked. You can go through the list of blocked IPs and block them permanently yourself.
