• Hello thanks for this plugin. I was thinking that it might be helpful to have a simplified dropdown in the edit post page that does not show all the posts when trying to link one post to its equivalent in a different language.
Perhaps if the post is linked with one language already it could be removed from the dropdown list as it becomes very difficult to manage posts as the blog grows.
    Just a thought!

The next version will use a jQuery UI autocomplete widget: https://jqueryui.com/autocomplete/

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

Nice one +1 for this feature, but would it not also make sense to remove the article from the dropdown via a function as for example one article only has one translation for each language so if the translation or link exists then it does not make sense to keep it in the list.

Yes, if you have a setup where this is always true. Maybe a good candidate for an option in the configuration…

+1 for the feature as well as an option to remove linked articles in other languages.

    OK, thanks.

    Hi Dennis

Just wanted to give a +1 for the autocomplete solution (if you need someone to beta test it on a production site I’d be happy too)

I’ve tried lots of different approaches to multilingual sites and I probably enjoy yours the most so thanks for all the work so far

    Hi All!

I made some patches in the latest version (0.9.8.2) of the plugin.
    Changes:
    – remove already associated posts/pages from the dropdown lists in the editor
    – preselect already associated posts/pages when adding a new one by clicking on the icons in the list of posts/pages
    – fixed some tipo in the msls-hu_HU.po file

    Download here:
    multisite-language-switcher_patched_by_Battman.zip

These are just quick patches, later it could be possible to add switches in the options page to enable/disable these features.

    Additional patches I plan:
    – use the similar method for post categories (taxonomies)
    – add a switch to the post editor to always hide that specific post from listing in the dropdown lists – would be useful in multilanguage sites, where lots of news articles are added without the need of translating everything

I like this great plugin, that’s why I decided to make some improvement on it … I hope it will be useful for others also

    Cheers,
    Attila

    Hi,

please have a look at the project on GitHub: https://github.com/lloc/Multisite-Language-Switcher

It’s quite impossible for me to manage this in that way because there are also other persons involved. If you are not already registered, please create an account on GutHub and fork the “Multisite Language Switcher”. You can then send a pull-request and we can discuss about the various parts.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    Hi Dennis,

I agree, patches are not the best way to contribute, basically I made it for my own use, but I thought it might be useful for others.
I created an account on GitHub and will follow what you suggested …

    Cheers,
    Attila
