I am using Connections as a staff directory in our internal site and I would really like to be able to distinguish our managers from the rest of the staff somehow. I thought there was a feature/extension called Featured Entries, but I can’t find a setting for it in entry management nor can I find an extension for it. Is this no longer an option??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

There is not a featured entry feature per se… however, there is a Custom Entry Order addon that can be used to put managers above the staff. Here’s the link:

After this addon is installed, you can set the manager’s order to 1, and they will be listed at the top of the directory.

Additionally, if you create a “Managers” category, the category slug “managers” will be added to the entry container div, which can then be targeted with CSS to change the styling of the managers in the directory list.

I hope this helps; please let me know.

Yes, I was actually looking for a way to target the managers’ containers with CSS and hadn’t thought about using categories for that so thank you, that does help. However, I would like to be able to hide that category in the filter drop-down on the directory page. I don’t suppose there’s a setting or some other easy way to do that that you can think of?

    Try the exclude_category shortcode option:

If the managers are also assigned another category, I think they will still show in the results but the option no longer show in the dropdown.

I hope this helps; please let me know.
