    With this theme Featured Images are just used for the Thumbnails on the excerpts so you could use whatever size you want but it would only display as 150 x 150

    What do you mean no update? Last update was on 2013-12-17

    Most of the themes are updated more frequent ??

    If something breaks when users update WP then authors do need to update the theme. But that is not the case here. If nothing’s broken don’t fix it, right?
