• Hello, I have a child theme of YITH Wonder running on Bluehost. The theme is performing well except for the featured image. Every page or post that is shared, pulls the site icon or site logo as the featured image. Is there a way to change this? Everything is up to date, it actually hasn’t worked since day one I’m just getting around to addressing it. Thanks in advance.

    Hello there,
if a page/post don’t have a featured image, WordPress automatically use the site icon as sharing image.

You can override this, by installing the Yoast free plugin and configure the Social tab in the Yoast SEO meta box when you edit the page/post.

But remember that if you already tried to share a page/post with the wrong featured image (the site icon), socials will probably still use the old version. You can force to use the new one using official social’s testing/flushing tool:

Just paste in every tool your sharing url and follow the instructions.

I hope you will appreciate this ??

    Francesco,

I appreciate your response. All of the posts I have tried to share have a featured image. I want to avoid using another plugin for something that I thought was built into the theme? Also, we are a small hobby club and do not want to invest in another plugin and have privacy concerns with a SEO plugin.

Running the FB debugger I get this message: The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

I installed Open Graph and this may do the trick…
