Featured image and gallery does not work after 4.5.2 upgrade

    Sorry Mr Moderator if I have put this in the wrong section but, was not sure where to place it.

    A strange one, since upgrading to 4.5.2 I can no longer set featured images for posts or pages, if I also try to click the add media button nothing happens. I can only insert a picture by going to insert>add media but,that only inserts into the body and not for the featured image.

    It’s frustrating as we use featured images for all of our posts.

    When I create new post/page and go to set featured image, the options come up for select image from PC, URL or from the gallery, I go to gallery and select the image, click set as featured image and it says saving, then done, then nothing happens, it doesn’t return to the gallery or the post, if you click save all changes nothing works either! it’s odd, same thing happens if i select the image from PC.

    It’s like a script that should return to the post/page isn’t running after it sets the image, it just sits there, you can see the new post/page ID in the URL but, you can’t do anything.

  • I had the same issue on a test site that I run. I deactivated all my plugins and it started working again. As it was a test site I didn’t go to the effort of re-enabling them one-at-a-time to work out which one was the cause, but that’s what I’d suggest you do.

    Rather than the issue being with WP per se, it’s probably a plugin that’s conflicting (4.5.2 included updates to third party scripts).
