• I have one post – and only one – in which I can’t change/replace the current featured image. The featured image box doesn’t appear in the side panel, and if I click the 3 dots above and choose preferences/panels it’s not an option there (doesn’t say featured image with a checkbox).

    I have tried:
    -updating WordPress
    -Reinstalling version 5.9.3
-making sure all plugins are current

I disabled all but a few important plugins and the issue persisted. I have trouble thinking it’s a plugin conflict since every other post is fine (shows the featured image box in the side panel and has a featured image box to check in the 3 dots/preferences/panel menu box.

I am not a coder, I’m a self taught WordPress user so won’t understand coding or CSS questions unless you simplify it for rookies. ??

Thank you in advance, I’ve searched the forum and online and I’m just not finding anyone dealing with it on only one post (vs. not seeing it on all posts).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thank you for this reply, it sounds like this is a good possibility as a workaround. I still would love to figure out the root cause of the problem to avoid repeating it in the future, any idea why the featured image won’t show on just that one post?

    Thanks,
    karen

One other note: besides featured image I also am unable to see or edit the categories and tags, they are all missing in the right panel and in the preferences/panels menu.

Solution for anyone who needs it, thanks to Ben Sibley at competethemes.com (best developer ever):

This post had multiple embedded videos. Ben had me create a staging website using my host (A2), then open the post on the staging website.

I copied all of the content to the clipboard, deleted it on the post, and saved the post that way. When I went back into the post all the the missing options (featured image, categories, etc) were BACK on the side menu!

I then pasted the content back in, saved it, and the options are still in the side panel.

So there was some kind of conflict with the video embeds (possibly they had been first added in classic WP then converted to Gutenberg).
