Featured Image cover in custom post types

Hello. The blog customizer settings for the featured image and post title used to natively apply to any custom post types as well. After a recent update, I notice when the single post header settings are set to COVER instead of NORMAL for the featured image, then the featured image and post titles do not display at all on any custom post types. Was this an intentional change? How can I get the settings for any custom post types to use the normal blog post settings as well?

For example, here is a blog post where featured image and page title are displaying:

Same website, custom post type, the page title and featured image are not rendering at all?

They used to render exactly the same as the blog posts? What happened?
