Featured Image Drops While Editing Post

    While editing new posts using Gutenberg, going through multiple saved drafts, frequently the featured image I have selected gets removed by the editor. Adding it back in is no problem, and the file is still present in my media library. The image isn’t dropped every time, but frequently enough to be quite annoying. Once the posts are published, the featured image seems to “stick” reliably.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

    For the record, I am using the GeneratePress Premium theme.

    Since that is a commercial theme, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best: https://generatepress.com/contact/

    Forum volunteers are not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

    This issue was being caused by a plugin I was using called EditorsKit. The plugin adds some rich text controls (e.g. subscript and superscript) to the <p> block context menu in the Gutenberg editor. I disabled that plugin and haven’t seen the featured image dropout again yet. Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t see it again the next time I use the editor, but in the meantime, I think we can put this one to bed. Thanks for the help.

    BTW – As noted in another post, it would be REALLY nice if the Gutenberg <p> block context menu supported some more rich text options like subscript and superscript. I use these a LOT, and it’s a pain to have to put in the HTML tags manually. There are plugins available to provide these options, but as noted above, they come with issues of their own.
