Featured image field is not (always) showing

  • Suddenly the event edit pages on my website do not always show the featured image field. I am using gutenberg, most of the time it is not loading the field in the document settings side bar. It seems that I can magically make it appear sometimes by: opening the developer toolbar, force refresh without caching.

    On pages and posts the featured image field is showing up without any weird behaviour.

    Update: I am using the latest version 6.6.2 and WP 6.0.1

    Sometimes the categories field is also gone. But the categories field does show up more often than the featured image field.

    Also there are a lot of console errors (503)
    example:
    OPTIONS https://www....nl/wp-json/wp/v2/mec-events/2334?_locale=user 503
