Featured image half working, half broken ..?

    Hello .. got a strange problem turned up…
    If I make a new post; and add a Featured Image for it; the image does not appear in the AddPost page; it seams its not working at all – however the live site shows it on my home page, but not on the single post page.
    So, according to the admin page there is no Featured Image set, but it is there, but only working in my Primary location, and not at the top of the post. This is for adding new posts, all my older posts have their featured images displaying in all locations correctly BUT the featured image is not showing in Admin anymore – so it appears like it does not have a featured image; yet they are fully working…
    I’ve scanned through the SQL looking for featured images but cannot find anything. Was wondering if it was something to do with file permissions. This is a theme I’ve been working on for months; and I haven’t touched anything regarding featured images.

  • Have you tried deactivating your plugins? A link to your site might also be relevant.

    Hi, sorry yes I have, its a WPEC site but I’ve disabled all plugins and I’m using TwentyTwelve for testing this, everything is up2date.
    The Featured Image is now not showing up anywhere on my test site, except in the Media page you can see the image was UploadedTo: ThePostYouWantedItOn
    ErrorLog not showing anything.

    On the live shop site (https://bit.ly/10cWiBr) you can see the problem by clicking the KidsBedsets banner lower middle, and note the featured image does not display on its page.

    Maybe I’m missing something, but on the live site, I don’t see a missing image on any pages I tried. On this page –

    I just see the grid of products – is there supposed to be more?

    Yes, on the Kids Bedsets page there’s supposed to be a featured image at the top; yet it shows nothing. The funny thing is that the FI shows on the home page – I can’t get that to work any more. Hence me saying it was partly broken.
    So, on my test site you’ll see that the archive of posts has featured images lower down, but its broken down this week and I can’t get them to go on. If you were to login to Admin you’ll see that adding FeaturedImages is broken in all ways; except that the Media upload is saying its been uploaded to the correct post.
    Hope that’s clearer?!

    I’m starting to think this is across my whole web server – I have a reseller account, and this problem has turned up on every WP site I’ve got I think ……
    If I try to set a FeaturedImage; it does not work.

    Hmm, that sounds suspicious for sure… You might want to check with the host before you spend more time on this.

    Just an update.
    I’ve sent a support ticket to hosts … made coffee and waiting …
    I’ve now realised this is much worse than I thought .. I can upload media, and in the Media Page it looks right – but the images cannot connect to the posts .. so I cannot add Featured Images, nor can I add media into the body of a post. And this is the same for every WP site I’ve got – at least 5 sites I’ve just tested. It has to be the server since nothing else has changed …
    … and yet somehow WP-E-Commerce is getting around it, uploading product pics works, and you can even set a featured image from the product image section. only works on ‘products’ not ‘posts’.

    Well .. its finally been tracked to Better Popup Blocker, a chrome extension I installed a few days ago, had never used any extensions before; will know to be careful in future.
