Featured image in post won't display on home page

I have several images in a published post, and have tried each of them separately as featured images to get them to display on the home page, none of which will do so. I have seen your previous advice that all one needs to do is to set the featured image option and it will show on the home page (which has always worked for me in the past), but in this post it is not working.
Any help appreciated.
