Featured image not sharing

    I’ve shared a post but the featured image isn’t sharing on the Google post. When you Google Excel heating the two weeks left post comes. When You click it takes you to the post with the featured image.

    Any ideas?

    This was posted from an author not an administrator if that has anything to do with it?

    Hi Craig,

    If the post went through without any errors, then maybe Google has pulled the image (they have some automatic content ID/copyright system in place which sometimes makes a mistake). If there is any issues with the image upfront, it will not create the GMB post at all and throw an error. Do you see any issues/errors within the Google My Business Dashboard? Or when you go to that specific post?

    Looks like you made another post 2 days prior where it did include the featured image. If an author has the permission to alter the featured image, it should work just fine.

    It said that it has posted ok but when I expanded it there was no image so I’ve selected the image.

    I posted the other post 2 days ago from my admin account and that worked ok.

    I posted from the author account with the same image and it didn’t so not sure why.

    I see, I tried to reproduce it here with an Author account, and it picked up the featured image without issues.

    When you open the GMB post in the plugin, is there anything in the Post image/video field? Or is it completely empty?

    It was completely empty. I manually selected the featured image and it has worked from the author account it just didn’t pick it up the first time round – maybe a blip then?

    Maybe the featured image was added to the WP post after it was already published on GMB?

    Or it might have been a one-time hiccup. If it happens again let me know.

    I added the image at the same time and it auto posted to Facebook. Hopefully a one time thing. I’ll keep you posted.

    Hi Koen, I have the same problem: in my posts on my website https://www.vakantiehuisbrummel.nl I include both text and image, but in the Google post the image is missing. There are no error messages. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks, Michiel

    Hi Michiel,

    By default the plugin uses the Featured Image of the post. I checked out one of your posts (https://www.vakantiehuisbrummel.nl/verliefd-op-boshuis-brummel-norg/) and it looks like it doesn’t have a Featured Image, but the image is within the post content.

    There is a code snippet you can use to make the plugin try to fetch the image from the post content: https://tycoonmedia.net/blog/filter-mbp_autopost_post_args/#fetchimagefromcontent

    This can be installed using the Code Snippets plugin, or by adding it to your themes’ functions.php.
