    Hello

I have read the previous threads and your article on snippet preview but can’t quite the answer I was looking for regarding issues with featured image in google search. I appreciate you can’t control what google does but is it normal for a featured image to stop populating on both mobile & desktop search?

Also my featured image is being populated in the Yoast snippet preview for mobile ONLY. Why does it not pull an image for desktop?

    Thanks

    Michelle

    Hello @whk145,

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. Is this particular to your homepage or specific posts on the site? The Yoast SEO plugin outputs a property called?primaryImageofPage?in the page’s schema data, a reference-by-ID to a node representing the page’s?featured image. I can’t find that in the source of your homepage. Do you have a featured image for it?

If this is about other pages, check the source for that porperty. If it’s there, the issue isn’t our plugin.

is it normal for a featured image to stop populating on both mobile & desktop search?

Thanks this is what I suspected ?? and yes its the images on my recipes posts that have stopped populating even though primaryImageofPage is in the code of those posts that I have randomly checked.

No response yet on the google forum but thanks for your help.

    Hi @whk145

Since you noticed primaryImageofPage is in the code, it is confirmed that Yoast SEO is outputting the image in the page source.

You asked “my featured image is being populated in the Yoast snippet preview for mobile ONLY. Why does it not pull an image for desktop?

Google presents the results differently on a desktop and a mobile device. Our snippet preview reflects how the content will look like in Google’s search results.
