Featured image not showing on WhatsApp

    Hello YOAST Team

    I’ve been scrolling through all existing topics concerning this issue. I tried everything from resizing the image until inserting the custom codes for the header section. Nothing works.

    After deactivating the YOAST plugin, it suddendly worked fine and the thumbnail was displayed on Whatsapp. But since I think your plugin has several benefits I would like to find a way having this issue solved while the YOAST plugin is active.

    Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. I can confirm the WhatsApp thumbnail isn’t being fetched, both in WhatsApp web & mobile. WhatsApp uses the same Open Graph protocol as Facebook. And when I tested the URL in the Facebook sharing debugger, the image worked fine. Since the preview shows as expected in the debugger but still doesn’t work in WhatsApp, you may reach out to?WhatsApp.

    Thank you for your answer. The thumbnail fetching on Facebook worked fine already from the start, but WhatsApp doesn’t show the thumbnail. Well the problem is not with WhatsApp in this case. As already mentioned: When I am deactivate the YOAST plugin then the thumbnail is being fetched on WhatsApp.

    This may be a bug in YOAST, since already many other YOAST users are reporting the same issue and none of them had this issue solved. The only answer they were getting from YOAST is to contact WhatsApp and then the thread ends there or is closed by a member of the YOAST team. Other websites which are not using YOAST have their thumbnail fetched immediately on WhatsApp.

    Please look into this, because often my clients are recommending me by sending my website link to potential new customers on WhatsApp.
