Featured image of post – should it show up on top of post?

    When I choose a featured image for a post, is that image supposed to/always going to show up at the top of the post, above the title? I was choosing a featured image just to optimize what would show up with link sharing, but it also made that image show up at the top of the post, above the title – which was very weird and not at all desired. Is there a way to disable this from happening? Or when you set a featured image, will this always happen? Despite extensive searching I was not able to find much information on this aspect of featured image behavior.

    Thank you to anyone who might have some information.

    Whether or not a featured image appears in posts on your site depends on the theme you are using; it is unrelated to the Yoast SEO plugin.

    If you do not always want featured images to appear on posts, please contact the developer of your theme for support.

    Hi Gary,

    Ah! That makes sense! I had never used (or noticed) the featured image ability of posts prior to installing Yoast, so thought it was functionality of the plugin. Thank you for the helpful information; I will investigate theme-side.
