Featured Image Thumbnails broken for all new uploads

As of this morning, I can only select a featured image for a post from a picture I have already uploaded to my media library.

Any new upload for a new feature image the thumbnail appears to be broken while the full sized featured image is working when viewing the single post.

When I put the thumbnail image address in the address bar I get the following error:

We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched

And the address is something like https://i1.wp.com/www.mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/687474703a2f2f7777772e63687269737379636f7374616e7a612e636f6d2f77702d636f6e74656e742f75706c6f6164732f323031332f30312f436872697373792d436f7374616e7a612d4d6f726e696e672d506963747572652e6a7067.jpg?resize=150%2C150

Anyone have any idea what is going on here and how to fix this issue?
