Hello, I am working on the following site: https://www.clearcreativecoaching.com/ and I have set the Featured Image Settings to the fixed dimensions of 100×100 for the thumbnail size. Yet, when I look at the blog post excerpt thumbnails, they do not show at this fixed dimension. They widths seem to be 100, but the heights are not. I have also selected the option to crop the images to the exact size, but it’s not doing that. I would like a uniformed look to my blog post thumbnails, so I would like this feature to work properly please. Take a look at my site and you’ll see what I’m talking about https://www.clearcreativecoaching.com/ The blog posts are also listed on the homepage, so you’ll see them there. Any help you can give is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Were the incorrectly-sized images uploaded to WordPress before or after you made the 100×100 setting in the theme?

I was under the impression that the images could be any size. That’s the point of choosing the fixed dimension thumbnails so that it will resize the thumbnail no matter the size of the images. To answer your question, the images were uploaded before I made the 100×100 setting in the theme.

WordPress generates the thumbnails on upload. And it does not re-generate them if you change the settings. This is how WordPress functions.

Are you sure this is how WordPress works? Or is this how the Mantra theme works? I’ve never had this problem with WordPress before and I’ve been working with it for a few years now. I’ve figured out that I need to re-upload all of the thumbnails, but that’s kind of ridiculous. It’s fixed now. Thanks for your input.

Yes. theZedt is correct. However, there is a plugin you can use: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
