Featured Image Uploader for Blogroll links

  • Roughly what might be involved in making a Featured Image Uploader admin Meta Box for Blogroll links, like the built-in one for Posts?

    I fancied having a go at making one to try and learn more, but would it be more efficient for me to start from Post Formats and/or CPTs instead?
