Hi there. I’ve searched extensively and i feel stupid because I’m finding NOTHING on this. I had a WP.com blog and am moving it to a blog I host myself (at GoDaddy if it matters). Using 2.92, I installed fresh, then imported the XML from the old site; also imported file attachments and everything looks good in the Media library. The old site was using an Inuit theme with featured images. I installed the closest Inuit theme on my hosted blog and all the featured images popped into place. I changed to an Arras theme and the featured images again work perfectly. The problem is that there is no Featured Image option either when adding an image or even to adjust the existing featured images. The Screen Options settings do not show ‘Featured Image’ when I am editing or creating a post, and even though the setting are set on multi-column, all the info is in a single column (i.e. preview, publish are at the bottom). Any ideas what’s going on?

  • “Featured Images” are not part of the native WordPress. They’re either theme-specific or controlled by plugins.

I understand. But my ability to edit my posts is now impacted regardless of the theme I use and whether or not that them offers some sort of ‘featured image’ equivalent. Any idea how to ‘reset’?

Pardom the request for clarification, but it seems like you have two problems here?

    1. You can’t add or adjust featured images.

    2. You’re admin interface is messed up and only displaying as one long column.

    Is that right?

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the help. I decided to wipe the dbase and start over. Worked. I think something got scrambled in the import; fortunately I’m just getting started!
