Featured Images

  • So I’ve been using the featured image option for a while now, and I’m also set up at Godaddy(I know, I know, I’ll change it when my time with them is up) and Godaddy only wants 1,000 things per folder, so after about a year, my folder I used for media had 1,700(whoops, went over a bit). So I did what I always do when I fill up a folder, I make a new one.

    This has always worked fine, I go in and change the media folder option in WordPress, but this time something messed up. Unlike my posts that stay in that old media folder I put on server, the featured images won’t display at all.

    Example:
    Old post – site.com/folderA/001.jpg – Works
    New Post – site.com/folderB/001.jpg – Works

    Featured images
    Old post – site.com/folderA/001.jpg – Does not work
    New Post – site.com/folderB/001.jpg – Works(but will stop when I make a new folder down the road)

    Just wondering if there is a way to have my featured images appear since they stopped working when I switched folders, but it seems weird that the posts are not affected by the folder change, but the featured image is.

    I know this is a trivial problem, and for right now I just turned off featured images and that fixes it, but I want my featured images darn it.

    No. I just have everything dumped into the folder.

    Turning on that feature auto creates folders within the main uploads folder for each year, within each year a folder is made for each month, and your images all get auto sorted thusly as you add them. That strategy would keep you from busting the limit I’d believe. I ran my site on godaddy for 4 years without running into said issue (I’ve since switched hosts).

    I’m not certain this helps you with past images, but it’s a future strategy

    Yeah, just gonna switch hosts when it comes up. I actually uploaded a whole folder in a day(over the 1,024 limit, but mostly because each picture wordpress uploads it makes like 5 different sizes) so I don’t see myself getting the featured image thing to work, but it’s all good. Thanks anyways.

    I also have a problem in featured image.. I created a custom theme, but the featured images doesn’t show at main home page, but whenever I switch to another theme (especially twentytwelve theme), the featured images show. What will I do?
