Featured Images Being Removed

We are aware of such individual cases, and it is usually due NextGen Gallery conflicting with the theme. Could you please let us know what theme do you use for your site?

Thanks for your report. There’s a known conflict between NGG and Avada’s custom setting named: “Show featured image in the posts lists only, but hide it in the single post view.” that we have documented it for our developers.

We have found that NGG may delete the featured image on the post’s update, if toggling ON/OFF this Avada setting. Can you please confirm or not that’s what happens in your case?

Ah, sorry for pointing to the wrong theme, you are absolutely correct, I’ve meant to write Astra instead of Avada.

@imagely Confirmed. That’s exactly what occurs. Hope you’re able to resolve that issue. For now I’ll keep this in mind.

Hi. This is happening for me too, only I don’t use the “Show featured image in the posts lists only, but hide it in the single post view.

It is happening all the time, and since the last update this week, it is happening every time I update a post, not just once on the first update.

Can you help? (Using Astra etc – all the same as the guy above). Thanks

I am also experiencing this issue with Astra theme installed.

Most of the time I update a post, the existing featured image is removed.

This occurs only when both Astra and NextGen Gallery are active. I tested for plugin conflicts by deactivating all other plugins. This behavior does not occur when I switch to Twenty Nineteen theme and keep NextGen Gallery active, nor does it occur when Astra is active and I deactivate NextGen.

None of my featured images are images in NextGen galleries (this is an option in NextGen Gallery); they are chosen from images in the Media Library.

And this happens on posts whether or not they contain a NextGen gallery.

The issue seems to be related to the checkbox (added by Astra) “Show featured image in the posts lists only, but hide it in the single post view.” When I select or deselect this box and then update the post, the featured image is removed from the post.

I notice that if after updating a post (and losing the featured image) if I click on “Set Featured Image” in the post sidebar, the correct image is pre-selected in the media library, so there must still be some connection between the post and the image attachment.

This bug was identified at least 6 months ago!

It’s ridiculous that this hasn’t been resolved as it’s a major, time-consuming issue for lots of people. Imagely and Astra are just blaming each other, when we just need a bug fix.

I reported this bug to the NextGen Gallery developers SIX MONTHS AGO!

I noticed this behavior on a development site I am working on. I can provide admin privileges if you need them.

I am submitting a help ticket to the Astra theme developers as well. I hope the two of you can figure out how to resolve the conflict.

Why is it taking so long to resolve this???
