    Hi,

The plugin has stopped importing the featured images for some reason.

We’ve deleted the 3 latest imported posts without featured images, and emptied the bin.

Neither a manual re-sync or hourly import is bring the featured images in.

    Any ideas, please?

    Thanks.

    Hey @10bradders10,

That’s really odd. Do you see any recent errors in the “Tools -> Scheduled Actions” screen?
If not, you could try to delete the saved import, deactivate the plugin and then reactivate it again and set the import – it might help.

    Thanks,

    No errors in scheduled actions.

Followed the process recommended, plus cleared cache in the process, still no import of featured images.

    Any ideas, please?

That’s really odd. Could you please try to disable all other plugins and test once again?
Do you see any pending tasks for image imports in the “Tools -> Scheduled Actions” screen?
Are there any visible errors on your server’s debug.log file?

Lastly – you could try to install the most recent version of the “Action Scheduler” plugin, it’d override the one provided in the plugin and might work better in your case.

    Hi,

Here are the 3 images in the action scheduler – https://app.screencast.com/0NKbDfz3raM5X

We’ve deleted the 3 images in the action scheduler, cleared the episodes, and then re-imported, and the 3 image items appear again in the action scheduler.

Still no 3 images appearing in the back or front end.

Also ran troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins apart this one, and simply podcasting.

    Nothing in the debug.log.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the update and additional context!
That’s really odd. Which hosting provider are you using? Could you please get in touch with them and see if there’s any limitation on your server’s Cron functionality?

Have you tried installing the “Action Scheduler” plugin as well?

    Hi,

No limitation on the servers cron funcitonality.

Action Scheduler plugin, isn’t that in the latest WP Core?

    Haven’t installed it yet.

    THanks.

Adding the Action Scheduler, and re-ran the import. The images were pending, then completed in the Action Scheduler.

    However, still no images imported.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks.

The Action Scheduler isn’t part of core, and it’s released separately here – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/action-scheduler/

We rely on this in the plugin but sometimes there are conflicting versions from other plugins etc.
Anyways, this doesn’t seem to be the issue in your case.

Could you perhaps run this by your hosting provider? Seems like something is failing in the back end but we’re not seeing any logs around it.

We’ve try to manually upload the downloaded image from Buzzsprout, and the image is 3000 pixels.

    See error – https://app.screencast.com/MU4oGcFWOaWx9

However, all the imported images already are only 1400 pixels from the same source.

Is there an image resize that is no longer happening in your import plugin?

That’s really odd, not sure why servers would have a hard limit on the sizes.

You might be able to adjust that via nginx as seen here –
    https://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_core_module.html#client_max_body_size

I’d recommend to work with your hosting provider and make sure that large images can be uploaded. You can always have another process that optimizes the images later on, but by default we always bring the original image that’s available in the feed.

    Thread Starter 10bradders10

    (@10bradders10)

Ok, so we can now manually import an episode cover image, which automatically scales down.

Deleted the image, and retried the import for the remaining 3 episodes, but they still don’t import the images.

    Any ideas please?

Are those images in the feed still at 3000×3000 or were they downscaled there as well? As far as I’m aware, 3000×3000 is the standard requirement on RSS feeds, so you’d probably have to enable that size on the WP server level.

Once that’s done and images can import, you can probably use a plugin to scale those down in the background.

    Thread Starter 10bradders10

    (@10bradders10)

Yes they are 3000×3000 in the feed. See link below.

    https://storage.buzzsprout.com/fzgpcsrdd8jxzpouur3szykq48sm?.jpg

Manually uploading that image is correctly being scaled down by WordPress.

That still leaves us with why they wont import on the feed. We’ve checked there are no previous images of the same file name in the library.

I suppose uploading images manually behaves a little differently than the scheduled ones we’re doing. That might explain why it works manually and not via the importer.

Can you share your feed URL? I’ll try to import it on my side and see if images are being added.

Either way, I’d strongly recommend to check this with your hosting provider as well, sounds like it might be a limitation on that side really.

    Thanks,

    Here’s the feed URL – https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2028182.rss

Let us know if it works for you please?

We have liaised with the hosting provider and at the moment there is no limitation.
