Featured images only work with older images

  • Hi there,

    Hope you can help me. Featured images used to work perfectly on my site but it has suddenly stopped working for all new images.

    If I’m writing a new blog post i can attach an old image from my media library as a featured image and it will show up, but if i want to upload a new featured image, it won’t.

    I’m confused as to why it only works with older images?
    New images that i upload are still showing up in the media library.

    Its so weird??

  • Have you updated WP recently? What about updating any plugins or even themes?

    I’ve updated WordPress to the latest version, i tried turning off all my plugins to check if it was a conflict and that didn’t seem to make any difference.

    Umm.. Try changing your theme to Twentyfifteen and deactivate all the plugins. If that does not work, try to do a manual upgrade. It is possible that something was corrupted during your last upgrade.

    However I am not able to update to the latest theme all i get is
    An error occurred while updating Twenty Fourteen: Could not remove the old theme.

    Not being able to upgrade a theme is an issue in of its self and could be a clue to why you are having issues throughout the site.

    If you have the latest version of WP, you should have Twenty Fifteen installed. Try switching to that theme. If that helps the issue, you will need to upgrade your Twenty Fourteen theme manually.
