• Hi,

In various threads, people seem to mention there now is an option to edit the “Read More” buttons from the Front Page Featured Options.
    I don’t have that bit….
I’m running a child theme but the main Customizr version installed is version 3.0.8.

Is there something I need to do when updates happen with the main version to my child theme?

    Many thanks.

  • In the Customiz’it! Panel, should find it by:

Front Page>Featured Pages Options>Button Text. Add ‘Read More>>’ or any text you want here.

Shouldn’t be impacted at all by Child Theme.

    Nope.
It’s neither there for my english site or french one…
Should I uninstall Customizr and reinstall the main version again?

Mmm. Just as an experiment to prove it, I suggest you try disabling all your Plugins, then check if still a problem.

If so, try reinstall with no active Plugins.

    Can’t see a root cause here ??

Another thing to try prior to a reinstall, is to deactivate your child theme and activate customizr. If it appears then, it would be something in your child theme that’s overwriting customizr code.

    Thanks, ElectricFeet.
I deactivated my child theme and it is indeed showing when activating the main theme…

Now, here’s the thing, I have no idea how to do any thing.
I’ve litteraly done copy and paste jobs from this forum from the various threads to make the changes I wanted to my site.
    I don’t know what to do now… :-S

<Sherlock Holmes mode> I suspect that the CSS changes in your child theme are fine. I also suspect you have some php code in your child theme that you have copied from an earlier version of the theme and modified to suit your needs. I suspect that when the theme was updated you didn’t check out the changes that Nikeo had made. As a consequence your old function is locking you out of benefiting from the new Button Text functionality.

    How am I doing, Watson?

    ??

(p.s. This is one of the reasons why I have a child-theme for my CSS, but not (yet) for my (minor) PHP changes. I cannot see the difference in time-terms between (a) making the few minor changes I need each time the theme is updated and (b) checking through the files each time to see if they have changed.)

Not seen this done in other Themes either, but common practice would be to publish a list of changed assets in the Changelog.

I compare filesizes between releases which is a fairly good indicator of where changes have been made.

Hehehe I have no idea what you all mean! ??

Should I copy the style css, do a new child theme with the updated version and just paste my css in the new style sheet?

I think I’ll have a go at that and see how it goes!

    Good tip, thanks!

    All sorted.
When I put my child theme together, the instructions I found explained I needed to upload the whole theme instead of just the style sheet which is why it was ignoring any theme updates.
Created a new one with just the style.css and it’s worked like a charm! ??
