• Featured slider is not visible on the homepage (I have cleared the cache, tried multiple different browsers, incognito window, viewed page when logged out and logged in, etc)…none show the featured slider.

However, when I login to the backend, and go to “customize” it shows the slider, i make some tweaks to that widget (hoping to wake it up), click publish, and when looking at the frontend the slider still doesn’t show. Any ideas guys?

  • HI @honeytrek,

The slider should be visible on both the back and fronend. Can you check if there are any console errors on the front page? Also, the site URL you have provided have some issue with the database, so we cannot inspect the issue. Please fix the site issue and let us know.

    Sincerely,
    ThemeGrill Support

Hey guys. What is a “console error”? I don’t see any errors, but want to make sure I am looking in the right place.

Site is back online, sorry it went down over night.

    Thanks for your assistance guys!

    Hi @honeytrek,

Can you please once try disabling the used plugin on your site and check?

Ok Ankit, I disabled all plugins then turned them on one-by-one. And the culprit is AMP. And this is the main AMP plugin that everyone uses for WordPress…so maybe I found a bug you guys need to sort out.

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/amp/

As soon as I activate that AMP plugin (which Google requires me to have so my site gets indexed by them), the slider goes away.

If there is a snippet of code I can put in my CSS area on “Customize” tab, or a function I can add to my child theme, please reply with that. Thanks SOOOO much!

Also, here’s another piece of the puzzle for you.

Inside the AMP WordPress Plugin, when I select the “Transitional Template” the featured slider shows fine on my site. However, when I select “Standard Template” (which is the one Google and the Plugin Author recommend for fully AMP sites…the featured slider does not work.

Here is a screenshot of the inside of the plugin area I am mentioning.

    Hi @honeytrek,

Can you please use the native AMP layout provided via the plugin and check it once?

    Thanks and Regards,

We might have a language barrier here. Can you tell me exactly what you mean by “use native AMP layout”. I gave a screenshot, please tell me what to check/activate there.

    Thanks Ankit!

    Hi @honeytrek,

Can you please select the Reader mode and check it once?

In reader mode it does show the featured slider, it just breaks (aka doesn’t show the featured slider) when using the “Standard Template” which is the one Google recommends.

Can you guys come up with a fix so my featured slider code won’t get blocked by AMP restrictions (guessing related to JS, dunno)

    Hi @honeytrek,

For now please do use reader mode for the featured slider.

Further, we’ll inform our developers about the issue with AMP and make the theme AMP compatible and release an update. You can keep an eye on our changelog for new features and bug fixes.
