I was building a page and when setting up the blog posts and featured image area, the theme (wordpress 2024) as an aspect ratio setting option for the featured image. I had hopped that this plugin would crop the video to respect this setting.

I would like to fill the hight to 100% of the area, but crop the sides of the videos to fit inside the container so that the grid of posts, would be uniform , no matter if they have featured images or featured videos. Besides this, all is good i think (also the rounded corners does not seem to work on the thumbnails either.

I am using the Cover option, for the Scale

  • Hi there @stephrookie,

Thank you for your question, Aspect ratios is included in our Pro version of this plugin as it is not an easy feature to maintain in the free version.

We recently launched our Pro version and are currently running an initial offer for early adopters, check it out more about it in this thread – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/pro-version-is-out-with-lifetime-deal-first-few-customers-only/

Or directly visit the product page at – smalltowndev.com/really-simple-featured-video

One more thing, I am needing an option to hide the featured video, at the head of the post. So when I do use a featured video, I don’t necessarilly want it to show up as a header of the post its featured on. I’d like to place it further down the post. But it seems like with your plugin, it is automatically set at the top of the post. Does your pro version include this too?

Hey @stephrookie, RSFV plugin currently directly replaces Featured Image/thumbnail markup with videos on single post/pages so I do see it as a need as well to optionally able to disable this. Though I’m unable to say whether this will be a free feature or pro at the moment, but definitely to come in the coming weeks as its already in active development, along with Block Editor blocks, Elementor Widgets, and WPBakery Elements to add native Featured Video support so that there is no need to replace Featured Image markup to show videos.

There is a way to show the Featured Video directly anywhere on the single post/page/product with these shortcodes listed below in the free version itself –

[rsfv] shortcode is for displaying set featured video of the individual post anywhere in the post.

[rsfv_by_postid] shortcode is for displaying featured video of any post anywhere you want, you just need to pass a vaild post id to it e.g. [rsfv_by_postid post_id=”281″]

I’ll only request if you like this plugin and our efforts moving forward and you wish to support active development of our plugin, please consider getting a pro license, also available at a really great deal right now with the lifetime deal limited to first few customers. This means a lot as we make this a one stop solution for featured video needs in WordPress ??

    Hope this helps!
    Best,
    Krishna
