Yes, ALL updates are gone. All I did was delete the app.

I can’t understand why you are willing to delete the existing app. If you this that the issue is because of the existing app then just ignore it , create a new app and just use its app id and secret.

There is no such condition that will force you to delete your old app before creating a new one.

Yes, it’s true, you can leave there the old applications. I delete them just non to have junk around.
Anyway I use my applications to publish WP post and pages. So, the application is a tool, when published on your FB pages the posts still remain published even if you remove the tool, whatever it could be, application, email or everything else.
Different claims are illogical.

i couldn’t make heads or tails out of facebooks new developers website, let alone find where to make a new app. if you can explain to people how to make a new app with facebook’s new site then that would probably really help them. the instructions from the plugin reference the old facebook developer site and are no longer accurate or helpful.

How to create a FB application to publish your WP posts and pages on FB. (For other purposes, different than mere publishing, I don’t know)
Go to:
https://developers.facebook.com/apps
Click on “create a new application” (I don’t now exact words in English as I have the page in Italian)

A little form will appear where to put a Name for application and mamespace. Advices will appear in real time if you are doing thing wrong, so correct any error as needed:
* Display name
* Namespace
When done save.
In the next step insert your email address:
* Email address
* and in “Website with Facebook Login” add the Url of your site.
Don’t do anything else and save. That’s it. Now you have a new application.

If you use the application for a publishing plugin, go back to the plugin and insert App ID, App Secret and your fanpage ID then do all the setting you want or needed following the instruction of your plugin.
At this moment I’m using succesfully Simple Facebook Connect.

I removed my app and I lost a year’s worth of posts and replies. GONE.

Could you show to me your page? I think that you did something else than simply delete the application. I have deleted and redo six application and my pages are all there, safe and happy! ??

Ask to facebook developers: Removal of an application doesn’t affect the posts, images, states, etc. published on a page.
