I just switched from Blogger to WP on Saturday. I have my hosting through Blue Host and I changed my domain over with I switched the blogs. On Saturday my feed seemed to be working fine. I have the Redirection and FD Feedburner plugins so that it can all be redirected to my Feedburner url. I checked after I did those and it was working, but starting on Sunday morning when I click the RSS links, or even clicking from my Feedburner I get sent to Blue Host. Like the url doesn’t exist or something. I was hoping it would resolve itself but it hasn’t. I tried validating my feed and this is the message I get:

It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn’t find one. Please enter the address of your feed to validate.

and I even tried resyncing my feed and got this message:

The URL you entered does not appear to be a valid feed. We encountered the following problem: Error on line 18: The element type “meta” must be terminated by the matching end-tag “</meta>”.

Any help would be really really appreciated. I’m new to WP but I have over 3,000 subscribers so I really need my rss to work.

  • Right – I can now see the raw feed in IE9 & Opera but had hell’s own job getting it to show in Firefox despite multiple hard refreshes – which makes me think there’s been some kind of weird caching issue going on here.

Now try just re-activating the Feedburner plugin.

    It’s reactivated.

I can still see the original RSS feed – not a Feedburner feed…

I have the Redirection and the Feedsmith plugins activated.

Now I’m getting the holding page again. So it looks like it’s something to do with the Redirection plugin.

I deactivated it redirection. Still have Feedsmith activated though.

Gah! Back to the holding page again. Deactivate both then just reactivate Feedsmith.

Okay, deactivated and now activated again. (Just Feedsmith)

Nope. Still getting that darn Bluehost page again. Have you spoken to Bluehost about this at all? I’ve not seen a feed/redirection problem quite like this before and I can’t help feeling that there may be something weird going on at the server level.

Yes I chatted with someone that said it was not their issue and then I got an email earlier from where I had sent a ticket yesterday, this is what it said:
Thank you for your email. It looks like you have a plugin generating a lot of errors. I have renamed wp-mobile-detector to wp-mobile-detectorold. Your site should start working faster. you should be able to reinstall that plugin if you wish to use it.

    Obviously that didn’t fix anything…

What other plugins are you using apart from Feedsmith and Redirection (now inactive)?

The only active ones right now are Akismet, All in one Favicon, Broken Link Checker (just activated this after I switched my permalinks back to custom) Feedsmith, Jetpak, Linkwithin, and permalink finder.

Can you turn them all off except Akismet, Jetpack & Feedsmith?

    Done.

Nope. Something at Bliuehost could be caching your site.
