I’ve gone ahead and started setting up my site with the plugin and the more I understand it the more I appreciate what its doing. One thing though that I’ve run into that I’m curious about. So I’ve setup my 2 different podcast as categories. When I added the podcast player using a shortcode to my side bar the image I noticed was not the podcast image. I then just viewed the feed rss itself and noticed that within the image tags it is not the image I set in the tabs. That shows in the <itunes:image> tag. The image seems to show fine on the places I’ve submitted the podcast to such as itunes(which I would expect), stitcher, spotify & google music. But the podcast player on the site is showing something else. I would think that this rss feed image tag would be over written so that the podcast player displays the correct image for that specific category. Am I doing something wrong?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Looking at your site just now, I’m not seeing any media players in the sidebar. When the player was there, what image was showing up?

Looks like the site has been reset. All of your links are coming up as 404s.

    Hey Shawn,

Yes, sorry. I am actually in the middle of doing a complete rebuild. During the migration of the site from an old domain to a new domain the WP install had some issues. I was starting to get issues in the plugin off an rss_language error but I believe this was due to what I had done. I should hopefully have this all back up shortly to see if this once and for all resolves the issue and see if I get that same problem. I’ll be testing things again in a bit.

Hello @shawnogordo I’ve just updated the site and put my category back in place. I see the image tags are still having that issue. Another thing I noticed is that the feed is only showing some of the episodes in the category. I have it set to 300.

I guess after so long you can’t edit your response. I believe I just needed to wait a second to get the rss to show everything. Which is great. Those image tags still exist and if you go to the page now you can see what I mean about the image not in the podcast player. It used to have something now there is notta.

Last thing and I think I’m all good to go and very thankful for. Is there a way to tell the feed to use the mp3 tags and not the blog stuff. I noticed the episodes are pulling the name from the post title and I”d like it to pull the title tag.

What is the exact shortcode (or other method) you’re using to generate the media player in the lefthand sidebar?

There’s no way to make the podcast feed, or any podcast app, use your media files’ ID3 tags instead of the information in the podcast feed itself. At this point, almost all podcast-consumption apps work off your podcast feed as opposed to your media files’ ID3 tags.

Understood, I’ve updated my titles to how I’d like for them to display in he feed. I’m using the shorthand category code.

    [powerpress_playlist category=”358″]

Has the player, in its current location in the sidebar, ever displayed artwork? It’s possible that the space given to the player is too small to show the artwork.

Also, have you tried modifying the shortcode using the image attribute covered here?:

The player did at one point show an image. However that might of been when I had it as a channel and I’m now using Category for the feed. I’ve added images=true, images=’true’ and images=”true” after the category and it didn’t work. I tried to put a comma between the options and that caused the playlist to combine with the other category. With no comma I still get no image.

also you can manually set the image using the image tag. Images however, does not work.

    Hello @dexdeadly,

For this episode, when you edit it and go into the episode box, do you have an image set for the episode? The artwork the player displays would be the image you set for the player image in PowerPress episode box. This is not to be confused with the itunes /apple podcasts image.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hello Angelo,

That would be what I was expecting to default to. That was what the channel type did when I originally had it setup up that way. I’m now using categories. I enabled the Poster Image URL and it worked. Thank you for that.
