    Hello –

Have you tried everything in the FAQs and Documentation?

Have you looked at the Help & Settings Tab? Does either feed load?

    Can you share your settings?

There are many threads on this topic that you can read through with lots of things to try. This is almost always a settings issue, a feed settings issue (facebook side), or related to no upcoming events being available and trying to show an events only feed.

    Best,
    Richard

Both your and my feeds show on the Plugin Status & Help page.

The Style Options page is a Default Style theme, though I’ve tried all and none show up. The rest of the page is unchecked or has Default buttons checked.

Display Options are only changed to show 1 in Number of Feed Items, Show Like Button, and Show Posted Date.

This is an open Facebook page — https://www.facebook.com/WSGT2e

And I’m using the Widget, but a dedicated page with the short code does show up — https://www.wsgt2e.com/?page_id=203

Ah, that sounds like you’re on to something, then.

What settings do you have in the Widget? Can you make sure you’ve updated them all and have the necessary counts, etc, there?

    Thanks!

The only settings in the widget is the URL for the Facebook page (if that’s not in there, I don’t get a Like button) and the title of “Join us on Facebook!” which, by the way does show up above the Like button. I’ve tried light or dark theme. Sometimes a box shows up briefly when the page loads, but quickly blinks out.

I’ve moved the widget to the Primary Sidebar, Content Sidebar, and Footer but the same thing happens in all of them.

    Hey!

So, you have the URL for the page in the “Page ID” field of the Widget?

If so, that sounds like the issue. Try removing that altogether, or replacing it with just the ID of your page (the same that you have set on your Settings Screen, which again should not be the full URL.)

Let me know if that works.

If I remove it or put in just the ID of the page, the Like button goes away and nothing shows up for the feed.

    Hey!

Well, you definitely don’t want it there. The feed will definitely not load if you have a full URL there.

As to why it doesn’t load without it there… definitely try tweaking your settings. Make sure you have the count set and make sure all the Display Options are configured (on your Settings screen) to output the elements you want.

I can’t see all of your settings (there are a few tabs) so it is hard for me to give specific fixes, but we know that you have your App ID and Secret right, and your Facebook Page is correctly public, and the feed loads correctly since the shortcode is functioning. The widget is just another implementation of the shortcode so it sounds like it probably has a bad default somewhere, which is why I think messing with your various settings should help.

    Best,
    Richard

The only setting I have is to show the Like button and show 1 Item. I’ve checked and unchecked boxes here and there just to see if it makes any difference, but the only thing that happens is the white box showing briefly and then disappearing. And without the full URL in the Widget settings, the Like button doesn’t show up.

Can you please try increasing the count above 1? You can do this specifically on the widget or you can do it on your Settings screen.

Putting a random higher number in didn’t work. But when I switched it back to 1, it worked.

    Gotta love glitches.

    Thanks for being so responsive.

Well, I’m glad that worked at least.

I’m going to dig into this a bit, though, to make sure there isn’t any underlying issue in the software.

    Thanks for working with me!
