Feed not Updating

@deargeek – On a side note, would it be possible to contact me via our Support form on our website so that when I’ve added the workaround I can send you the update to test before pushing it out? Or if you feel comfortable providing me with login access to your site then I’d be happy to log in and install the update to test it on there myself to make sure it works. As I’m not able to replicate the issue you guys are having on my own test site then it would be useful to have a site to test the update on. If you send a ticket via the form then please include a link to this thread so that I know what it’s in reference to.

Thanks ?? I emailed you an update to test – let me know if it works for you. I’m pretty confident that it’ll fix the issue and so will probably just push it out as a public update tonight to everyone.

I’ve pushed out updates to both the free and Pro versions with a workaround for this issue. If you update the plugin and then set the following setting to ‘Yes’ then it should fix the auto-update problem: Custom Facebook Feed > Customize > Misc > Misc Settings > Force cache to clear on interval.

Thanks for the link. It looks like the only post which isn’t displaying is the most recent one, and the reason it isn’t showing up is that it’s shared to your Facebook page from a user’s personal Facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/GrijzeSilo.Deventer). Content shared from a protected source (like a personal profile) won’t be able to be displayed outside of Facebook as they don’t make this content available in their public API. If you were to re-post that content as your own, or if it was shared from another public page, then it would show up on your website, but as it’s from a personal profile then it’s protected. Take a look at this FAQ here for more info and let me know whether it makes sense.

Ah, I see now John. I assumed that since the permissions of the post were set to ‘public’ it would show up. But I misunderstood. In fact ALL posts from personal profiles won’t show. Too bad really. If the user set the permissions of a post to ‘public’, I would think it makes sense to have no restrictions on sharing it. But Facebook apparently thinks otherwise ??

No problem. It should show up publicly within Facebook search and when non-friends view the profile, but won’t be included in Facebook’s API to be accessed outside of their platform unfortunately.
