We have a couple of other pages the use the plugin, they do not appear to be affected:

    Hey Tim,

For the feed that isn’t working reliably could you try disabling caching by adding the following to the shortcode cachetime=0. If that doesn’t work then try changing the caching setting on the plugin’s Settings page in the WordPress admin to be 0 instead.

Please let me know whether that resolves the issue, and I hope you’re having a good day!

Hi John, that did seem to work. I still get one feed appearance on page load and then subsequent page loads only display the spinny wheel.

I’ve tried loading the page on several devices and also emptying local cache files.

Also, I don’t see an option in the plugin setting to set the cache interval. I tried setting the “Force cache to clear on interval” option to Yes, but that solve the issue either.

I apologize, the setting isn’t actually labeled as caching, it’s labeled as “Check for new posts every” on the plugin’s main Settings page where you add your Access Token and User ID. Could you try changing this to be 0 and then saving the changes? I checked the source code on your site and it looks like caching is still enabled at the moment.

If that doesn’t fix the issue then please let me know.

    Hi John,

I set Check for new posts every to zero. Same results.

    Hey Tim,

Thanks for doing that. If you’re using a caching plugin on your site then did you clear your site cache after setting the plugin cache to zero? Sorry for flogging a dead horse, but I only ask ask the source code of the plugin on the site is telling me that the cache in the plugin is still enabled. If you did clear the site cache but it didn’t help then is it possible to allow me to log into your website to see what the issue is? If so, you can contact me confidentially via the Support form on our website. Just include a reference to this thread so that I know what it’s in reference to.

    Many thanks,

    John

Hi John, no worries. I cleared the w3tc cache manually via ssh and that seemed to clear up the problem. Thanks for your help.

Awesome, glad to hear that Tim. Happy to help ??

    Hi!

Is caching only available in pro version? I dont see any caching options or the mentioned “Check for new posts every” option in the settings. Also I greped my server for some captions used on my instgram images as alt tags but found nothing.

What do I have to do to enable caching for the instagram feed?

    Thanks

    Hey Udo,

Data caching is currently only available in the Pro version but this is something we’re planning to add to the free version in the future. It was only added to the Pro version a little while ago and we haven’t gotten around to adding it to the free version yet.

If you have any other questions then just let me know, and I hope you’re having a good weekend.

    Hi John!

Thanks for your fast reply! I am happy to hear that you plan to add caching to the free version in future. Instagram Feed is a great plugin but currently it takes 33% of my whole page load time ??

Hope you have a nice weekend too!
    Thanks,
    Udo

Hey Udo, no problem! Just to clarify, the plugin shouldn’t slow down the visible load time of your page at all as the photos are loaded from Instagram using JavaScript, which should run after the rest of your page is loaded.
