    Hello!

My feed url “broke” yesterday when I upgraded to Word Press 4.9. I spent hours communicating with my host, Site Ground, and a tech reversed the upgrade. That temporarily fixed the issue, but this morning my blog feed is showing “not valid” once again. (You can view that issue here: https://validator.w3.org/feed/ when you input my feed: https://kristyscottage.com/feed/ )

Currently, my blog updates, email campaigns, and all updates which rely on my “feed” are frozen. The senior techs over at Site Ground said they have done all they can.

I feel like there’s an issue with Word Press not validating my feed url for some reason, although I can’t imagine why. I’ve used this feed for years and never had an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have also communicated extensively with Mail Chimp, my email server, and they have not been able to unravel the issue either. Everyone I talk to points to Word Press as the source of the glitch.

    Have tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

That sounds like a tremendous amount of work, to reconfigure everything. I haven’t changed any plugins or tweaked the theme.

These basic troubleshooting steps. There is really no silver bullet in the situations

When you deactivate a plugin, its settings are retained in the database. So when you later reactivate it, its previous settings will automatically be reapplied. Its the same for switching themes. So not much work, just a few clicks.

Be sure to just deactivate, not delete. Deleting a plugin or theme will remove its settings.

Nevertheless, taking a backup before going further would be a good idea.
