• Im having an issue here getting my feed validated and it wont get accepted into itunes. im so confused here and lost because ive been working on this for a week. The messages im getting i dont even have a clue how to fix or even where to start.

The first thing its telling me it cant validate rawvoice.com ive never typed that anyplace so that must be hard coded someplace and i dont have a clue how to get it out because i dont see it. Its also saying things like the title doesnt match the channel but im using category podcasting so i dont think i have a way to make it match. I had to type in the name of that particular category to make it work. (i think) im being told there are iframes in the tag but i havent entered any iframe anyplace. below is the full message and the validation link. HELP!

Hey Shawn, I think i followed your instructions. What i did was went back to the settings tab in the REGULAR settings (not category) and when it asks if everything is ok i chose that its not ok and please try to fix. is that what you were referring to? or are you speaking about something in the category feed view itself?

One thing that i did different this time was in the REGULAR settings i did put an email address and a category there because there was none listed. but as i tried validating again i still get the same messages that there is no email address and no category listed. im not sure if its still showing an iframe tho. i can check some other plugins and maybe try disabling others . Something is clearly blocking the validator from seeing my feed info.

Just to give an update. There was a spot there for a 3rd podcast category and it showed that it was not filled in so i filled that in again and when i did that this erased the error for the the category as well as the email address (i didnt modify that as it was already filled in) NOW im stuck at “description” it says
    Is there an iTunes summary?
Podcasts should have a valid <itunes:summary> tag, or at least a <description>.

Well there definitely IS a summery there in the itunes tab. Its only one sentence but its there. If anyone has any idea how to correct this issue.. im all ears! i feel like im almost there !

    (@darryl505)

Just thinking out loud.. could the itunes summary be because there is no spot in the episode for me to create a summary SPECIFIC to itunes? I have it to pull a summary from the description of the post itself Perhaps its talking about the episode and not the feed?

I was actually able to get Itunes to accept the feed but i did not push the final submit button because even tho i gave them the feed url
    https://alldigitalradionetwork.com/category/podcasts-archive/radio-dan-show-podcast/feed/

The information displayed on the screen was the info from the main feed itself. The name was right but the artwork and the categories were all from the main feed and not the category feed. Im sure that this is user error here in my configuration but ive been all over every setting this morning and I just cant find it .

ok ive been working on this for 7 hours this morning and im going blind. All of a sudden while trying to submit to itunes i get this message

“Error parsing feed: Invalid XML: Error on line 86: the string — is not permitted within comments.”

i thought i had disabled comments when i disabled jetpack. i dont know what this means but this is not even the issue i was working on and it came out of nowhere. im going to have to take a break before i lose my mind but if anyone has a thought PLEASE share

One thing we noticed is that there’s a pipe or | character in your feed (it’s right at the beginning of line 30 on feed validator). Do you remember manually adding that somehow? If you didn’t, it may have been inserted by your theme or it may be a result of however you’ve setup permalinks in your WordPress settings.

Regardless, a different validator called Cast Feed Validator says your feed is fine as it is now. Sometimes, Feed Validator is very hard to please.

Shawn Thanks and i see that Itunes is accepting it again and i dont think i changed anything. When i put the url in itunes tho https://alldigitalradionetwork.com/category/podcasts-archive/radio-dan-show-podcast/feed/

Its pulling the information from the main feed. For instance in this particular feed i have the description of this particular show But in itunes what its showing is the information from the main rss feed which says “podcasts for the all digital radio network”

Right now its showing the proper artwork but yesterday it showed the generic WP logo. its also not showing the proper categories. its showing categories from the main feed. Is there something i did not click so that the rss feed would show itunes the info from THIS feed vs the main one?

    Thread Starter darryl505

    (@darryl505)

Also when it says the name of the podcast it says Categories/Radio DAn Show Podcast instead of just “The Radio Dan Show” as i have it in the description. maybe none of this matters . perhaps when its in itunes it will say whatever the actual rss feed says but i am afraid to click submit and then have the wrong feed in there. because everything shows that its pointing to a different feed

    darryl505,

I re-read this entire thread, I really think you are skipping a step. Can you confirm that you are clicking the menu item pictured: https://help.blubrry.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/powerpress_category_feeds.png

When you navigate to that menu item pictured, you should have your category in the list on the right. The category we are discussing is “radio-dan-show-podcast”. It may be that you are editing a category with the same title but with a different slug name, make sure the category slug “radio-dan-show-podcast” matches. If it is not in the list in this page, then you need to “Add podcasting to this category” on the left of this page.

You are more than welcome to take a screen shot (include the browser address bar as well) upload it somewhere and reply with a link to it in this thread.

We never directly sign into client’s web sites. We do offer one-on-one consulting though I suspect you do not want to pay for help hence your asking through the forums. When we do a consult, we use Gotomeeting so no passwords are shared and you are able to see what we are doing during the entire process. If during the consult we find that the problem is due to a bug in PowerPress we refund the consulting fee so as long as we did not do other consulting unrelated to the problem you’re having.

Angelo, im about to read your entire message several times lol if im missing a step it will be the best thing ever.

Go to PowerPress > Tools menu, go to the option “diagnosing”, and click that. AT the bottom of the diagnose page is an option to email info above plus include a list of all active plugins. Make sure the check box is checked to include list of active plugins and enter my email cio [at] rawvoice dot com ( modify this address to a real @ email).

I suspect another plugin is modifying your categories. Could also be your theme but unless it was custom made for you more than likely it is not the cause.

One other thing to check, go to PowerPress Settings > Feeds tab (global settings), make sure all feeds are enhanced (top option). If you pick the bottom one then only podcast channel feeds will have podcasting support. Most folks never mess with that setting but never know.

    (@darryl505)

Angelo, I am doing EXACTLY what you stated. and i will take screen shots if you want but im DEFINITELY clicking on category podcasting its the category im editing. When i submit the category to itunes its pulling the summary from the main feed not the category feed. and i cant understand why.

    Thread Starter darryl505

    (@darryl505)

as far as the enhanced option yes i have it right. i did research on that to see if that was my problem but i did not change it.

I am going to provide screen shots now. This shot shows that i am actually in the Category section and not the main section
    https://mydigitaledge.net/itunes/sc1.png

This picture shows that i have a title in the feed section for this particular category
    https://mydigitaledge.net/itunes/sc2.png

This image shows that I have an actual itunes summary filled out
    https://mydigitaledge.net/itunes/sc3.png

This image shows that I am entering the category feed into itunes
    https://mydigitaledge.net/itunes/sc4.jpg

This image shows that after all of the images above when itunes finds my feed they see NO summary (tho im showing you that i filled out one) No category (tho i show you that i have one there) This time they found the correct art work but for the title they are putting the whole category title there (but in the screenshot above i showed that i filled in a title to use instead)
