Just added a Swedish translation, as a thank you for this plugin (currently working far better than all alternatives I’ve tried so far).

I think the “Use whole page to calculate reading progress” option actually makes sense, for users who may want sidebars (and such) included in the progress bar calculation for responsive layouts shifting such content to the bottom of the page. So I see no reason to remove it, as has been suggested.

For my use case I’d prefer not having this option checked, though, but when I do uncheck it the progress bar never starts at 0% even with when I check “Make bar start at 0%”. So, for now, I’m using the full page height for my progress bar as a workaround.

But I’d really prefer not to, if I was only able to force the progress bar to really start at zero. ??

@kellermandesign thank you so much for taking the trouble of translating the plugin, really excited about that ??
Also thanks for your elaborate feedback. I have seen a couple of uses for the ‘whole page’ option indeed, so will keep it.
I understand what you mean with the bar not starting at 0%. Currently I’m on a short vacation, will look into it when I’m back. Will update this thread then.

Hi @kellermandesign, can you provide a url of a page where the bar won’t start at 0 without the ‘whole page’ option checked? Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce the issue with my own (test)websites.

Sure, It’s a work in progress, so not publicly available yet, but contact me at [email protected] and I’ll set up login access for you for testing purposes.

But feel free to take some time off, we can totally do this after Christmas (we won’t be launching the new site until mid-January at the earliest). ??

Dear kellermandesign, thank you for bringing this to my attention so I could fix it, and thank you for working with me giving me access to your website. As you confirmed by e-mail the issue is fixed in version 1.3.5, so I will close this support case.
The positioning function is more accurate now in a variety of situations without being slowed down (if anything, it’s slightly faster now), so 1.3.5 is beneficial for everybody.
Kind regards and thank you for using my reading progress plugin,
    Joeri
