• Hi all,
I tried posting this in the Google Groups, but it doesn’t look like anybody really works there. So I thought I’d ask here too.

I’m using Feedburner to burn my feeds. But I’m having a bit of trouble with my feed not updating. When I click Feedmedic, it gives me an error “Error getting URL: 502 – Source feed is too large … maximum size is 512K” I went into my blog control panel and made the feed only 1 post long and my latest post is just text. I tried pinging it, but to no avail. So I hit the Resync option and I get the “Read timed out” error. I checked my original feed with Feed Validator and it is OK. I check the Feedburner feed with Feed Validator and it doesn’t validate. (But I would think that
resyncing would purge any problems and pull new stuff from the feed.)

I’m using WordPress 2.71. I know there has been problems with YARP
plugin, so I removed that completely. But I still get “Read Timed Out”
and the Feedmedic error hasn’t updated in 2 weeks. I’ve also removed all my plugins. Again, no help.

So here’s the rundown. Let me know if you need more info:

    Blogging Software: WordPress 2.71
    Original Feed: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/ssg/feed/
    Feedburner Feed: https://feeds2.feedburner.com/ScrollSawGoodies
Current WP Plugins (I put most of them back after my initial test):
    Adsense Manager
    Akismet
    All in one SEO Pack
    Global Translator
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Podcasting
    Simple Tags
    Sociable
    TinyMCE Advanced
    TweetSuite
    Viper’s Video Quicktags
    WordPress.com Stats
    WordPress Database Backup
    WP-Cumulus

Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.

Has anybody else experienced this? I’m still banging my head against the wall to figure this out. Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.

Could it be that my WP is not installed in the root directory? It was working before, so I’m just desperately grasping for straws.

I am having the same problem. The only thing different I did prior to the problem was I changed to permalinks. However, even after reverting this change, I am still having the problem. The feed is fine – Facebook can pick it up when I enter the direct feed URL (instead of the feedburner URL).

Every attempt at “Resync” ends up with a time out error. The feed validates fine.

And what is even more odd, there is no record of the Feedfetcher bot in my access_log – however, on another blog on the same server, “Resyncing” is fine – no timeout – and the bot is seen in the log.

    I’m stumped.

I’m thinking Google/Feedburner is having issues. Frustrating though.

In Google Reader, it claims that https://homewinery.info/blog/feed/rss doesn’t exist.

Yahoo Reader finds it no problem.

So, I know my feed is fine. It’s Feedburner that is having the issue. And it’s not a connectivity issue because the Feedfetcher bot can connect to the same server and retrieve another blog’s feed without a problem.

Hmmm….I checked my straight feed in Google Reader and found it just fine. I also checked my Feedburner Feed in Google Reader and it connects too (with the un-updated posts since Feedburner won’t resync). So I think my feed is OK, plus it seems to validate just fine. So for some reason, it’s Feedburner that’s having issues. But since there isn’t a wide panic, it still leaves me to wonder if there is something on my server or in my feed that Feedburner doesn’t like.

Suddenly this evening (9PM EDT), I was able to resync Feedburner.

Did you do anything different? Or did it just allow you to resync? I haven’t been able to get an update since April 4th. Which kinda sux since I also do a podcast. Ugggg…

I use Siteground for my hosting if that helps anybody. Please help!

Anybody else run into the same problems I have? I still have a stuck RSS feed.

I got the same problem with my feeds (https://bloodypop.com/feed and https://feeds2.feedburner.com/bloodypop).

    Any news?

I can’t seem to get any answers from Google either. It seems like I’ve tried everything. I don’t know what else to do other than keep asking. If you figure it out, please let me know. I’m desperate for answers. Thanks!
