Was really hoping this would make images work in Feedly, but have had no luck so far and Feedly offers no support forums/services.

I installed plugin, use Feature Image, Regenerated all my thumbnails, cleared dbase and browser cache and still no images in Feedly and very blurred images in Bloglovin. Basically, it’s as if the plugin isn’t being recognized at all. Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong and how to fix it would be appreciated.

  • Dear @cathd80, you might be interested in this bug thread from TRAC, where there is a long discussion starting last December about the effects of 4.4 and later WP updates on RSS feeds and responsive images including use of the srcset and sizes attributes. @littler.chicken got into the conversation specifically to talk about Feedly. It may not solve any possible issues with Rob’s plugin at this point, but it might help point the way for options.

Our site has been having issues with RSS feeds and MailChimp now for awhile. Looking forward to seeing new features that integrate with MailChimp — thanks Rob, for considering!

Thanks for the reply, Rob, but I’m using the latest WP (4.7) and the latest version of your plugin and I still get no images in Feedly. I didn’t change any of the standard settings in the plugin and use Featured Images. I’ve emptied caches, regenerated thumbnails, done everything I can think of and this still does not work. Is it supposed to work with Feedly or am I just banging my head against a wall for no reason?

Also, I tried the workaround snippet above and it didn’t help either.

Thanks, Rob. I changed themes a year ago and started using Featured Image then. I use it for every post. Because I do book reviews I also put the same image in the body of the post for a visual. Are you saying that in the free version you can’t have the image in two places? Because I know so many people using this plugin who have the exact same kind of blog that I do and do exactly what I do and it works.

I think this unlikely, but I’m going back to all my old posts that didn’t have Featured Images before and adding them. There are about 600.

I just thought of this: the only images that appear are those I manually set in Featured Image. I use a popular plugin that imports all a book’s data and also has a Use Cover as Featured Image. It will be easy for me to test, but it seems likely that this plugin is the culprit. Sigh…

Rob, thanks for all the help! I’m not a techie (as you can tell). 90% of the images come from Goodreads- a book site. The book covers are almost always 308×475 pixels. The rest of the time I make collages/headers and yes, those are almost twice the size.

The thing is everyone in book blogging uses the exact same source and size of images and the ones I follow, it works!

I read the article, but the image in the post and the featured image are the exact same so I’m not sure how or why Feedly would ignore one. They are always >450 pixels.

Hmm in that case they should be working. Try the latest version of the free plugin, I’ve added support for Feedly-specific webfeeds:cover images now.

I’m seeing images set on more of your posts in Feedly, but some of them are blank, with this image URL:

    background-image: url("https://i0.wp.com/www.linkwithin.com/pixel.png?w=584");

So I’m not sure what the linkwithin.com image is, check those image URLs?

It’s also coming from Jetpack’s Photon service, I’d suggest try turning that off and seeing if Feedly likes that better – the dynamic sizing it does might be messing it up.

I’d suggest trying the Trial version and see if checking the Turn Responsive Images Off box helps as well.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Thank you so much for all the help- I’m learning a lot! The Linked Within images are pulled from older posts and as I mentioned I’m still in the process of adding featured images to those (there are over 600). So, that’s an error I would expect.

I just updated the plugin and turned off Photon so got to believe this will work! Thanks again and have a happy New year!
