In order not to bloat the media library of this site, which grabs a NASA news feed weekly, I tried to use the “read from URL” option in the Feedzy setup. But the images don’t appear in the posts widget. The only way I can get the images to appear in the posts widget is to have the images imported into the media library. This is untenable in the longrun. Does anyone know how to get the External Image option working in a posts widget? Using Elementor Pro.

hi, this is the URL for the feed:
    https://www.nasa.gov/rss/dyn/breaking_news.rss

the development site is https://inn.lynnelasser.com and the feed is near the bottom of the home page. Right now, it has the images from media library but I am going to switch to external image now.

    Hi @llasser!

I’m not able to replicate this behaviour on my end. I created an import job with the feed you provided, added the item_image tag in Map Content -> Featured Image and enabled the External Option image and the images are properly displayed on posts – screenshot, while not being added in the Media Library – screenshot. Let me know if I missed anything.

    Thank you!

I must be having some conflict. I’ve included item_image tag in my feed and external option for image but can’t see the image unless I use the Feedzy widget, which unfortunately can’t be styled with CSS (like to center the image in mobile view, which you’d think would be the default). so frustrating. I welcome suggestions for other RSS plugins that can work with Elementor posts widget and not cobb up the media library with images.

    Hi @llasser,

I believe this is a conflict caused by the theme you are currently using; it can also be just a theme-related setting that the thumbnails are hidden.

You can follow the steps in this guide to simulate a theme switch with one of the WordPress default themes. I assume you imported posts with Feedzy into a particular category of your website, so after changing the theme, just visit the category page to list the posts imported by Feedzy. If they have the featured image displayed with the default WP theme, I recommend contacting the author of the theme you are currently using regarding the issue.

    Regards,
    Stefan
