Feel URL in csv format only zipped

there is no mention of “zipped” in this url.
Also: I got “Success” for “Auto import” of urls, but the urls do not overwrite an existing table as they contain zipped files.

unfortunately, I’ll have to disappoint you here.
TablePress is not and will not be able to import XML files. This is just too difficult to implement.

For the ZIP import: If it’s a regular ZIP file, TablePress should be able to import a zipped CSV file from a URL as well. However, it must be actual ZIP and not e.g. GZIP (which is what the URL in your other thread used). This is not and will not be supported.

Now, for that URL from above (without ZIP): I’m afraid that this table/file is simply too big for TablePress. When I downloaded it, it was a 25 MB file! The table has over 23,000 rows, which each have about 40 columns! You will not have fun with tables of this size, and TablePress and most servers simply can not handle them, e.g. for memory restrictions. This is probably why you get the error message.
For such large tables, you will need a totally different/custom solution, e.g. directly based on a mySQL database table.

this is again a GZIPPED file, which is not supported. You’d have to download it first and extract the included CSV file.

And still get the special characters.
How to remedy on this?

Hi,

yes, this should indeed be a valid file. When I import it using the Upload method (after first downloading it to my computer), the import works fine.
However, it does not work when using the URL source directly.
I can only assume that this is because TablePress does then not know that this is actually a ZIP file, probably because the file is downloaded to a temporary file on the server, which does not have the .zip ending anymore.

I’m afraid that I have no idea how to change or fix this, sorry ??

wait, I might have found a small trick: If you add something like #test.csv.zip to the end of the URL (basically to make it look like a zipped CSV file), it seems to work.

this looks correct, the space does not matter.

Now, you seem to have the Shortcode inside a link. Does it work, if you put just the Shortcode into the cell?

And please check again: Is the Single Cell Shortcode Extension installed AND activated?
