Feels unfinished or as a rushed student project

  • Two stars for the post theme after feedback of someone from AMP. The theme is fast and exactly what I wanted but there’s a big but …

    The theme is simply not complete because the archive page is not supported, knowing it’s the second most important part of a website (basics).

    The comment section is available but as a button which eventually takes the user out of AMP mode which just shows again the theme is not complete.

    Why start a theme and promote AMP if you don’t finish it. That’s my impression, unfinished.

    It’s unfair to call AMP plugin a templating plugin or a theme, The AMP plugin is not designed to provide themes or template, it provides a basic template which was introduced in early stages (classic theme) when there was No AMP compatible theme existed, but now AMP framework is adopted in all major themes and plugins

    So we converted the basic template (classic theme) into The “Legacy theme” as name suggested it has been superseded and it is difficult to replace because of its wide use. but we stoped legacy theme development a long time ago.

    We recommend using AMP compatible themes that are listed on our site’s Ecosystem page, We also list AMP compatible themes on theme installations page.(screenshot)

    Using AMP compatible themes and plugin you can take advantage of AMP’s full potential.

    If your theme not AMP compatible but you want to keep using it, you can choose AMP compatible themes such as Astra or Neve as your Reader Mode theme, and take benefit of full templating (archive, tags, single posts, pages, custom templates etc, custom posts etc.)

    Are you serious? Jetpack is the last thing you should install if you want to speed up your site.

    My user experience with AMP is valid. Let’s be very clear. You spam us with “Install the WordPress AMP plugin on your WordPress site. It will automatically create AMP versions of your pages to make them load almost instantly. We recommend this plugin, though there are other options available.”

    I think it’s unfair for me as user to be misled and wasted my time on this.

    Sorry you felt that way, if you read my previous response carefully, I didn’t ask you to install jetpack or mentioned it anywhere I don’t know how you concluded that we asked you to install jetpack plugin.

    We (AMP plugin for WordPress) don’t send you any email, you are free to explore other options.

    I simply sent you details on how you can use themes such Astra or Neve as AMP Reader theme, Also explaining AMP is not theme or templating plugin.

    I guess you’re referring to the AMP plugin ecosystem? And regarding speed I suppose you’re referring to the time that it takes to generate a page on the frontend. Since the AMP plugin highly recommends page caching this is mitigated. AMP is all about frontend page performance once the page has been sent from the server. In this way, the functionality from Jetpack which is AMP-compatible does not impair performance. Again, a page caching plugin is highly recommended regardless (and is a best practice for any WordPress site).
